Dr. Jens Engholm Pedersen is R&D project manager at NKT involved in the design and development of ultra-low noise single frequency fiber lasers and amplifiers. He has published more than 20 scientific papers, owns 4 patents and has co-supervised 2 PhD students.

Tobias Gehring obtained his PhD in 2013 at the Leibniz University Hannover. After a postdoc from 2013 to 2015 at DTU he became tenure tracked Assistant Professor at the same university and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2019. His research field is experimental continuous variable quantum information, in particular generation of squeezed light and its application in quantum sensing and quantum communication. He also researches continuous variable quantum key distribution with coherent states.

Gheorghe-Sorin Paraoanu did his undergraduate studies at the University of Bucharest and obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Urbana-Champaign, U.S.A. He is a docent (Adj. Prof.) of University of Helsinki and he is presently leading an experimental group at Aalto University as Senior University Lecturer. He held several academic positions at the University of Jyväskylä, as well as visiting positions at the University of Innsbruck, University of Vienna, and ETH Zurich. His main interests include ultracold gases, open quantum systems, superconducting qubits and circuits, quantum control, parametric effects, quantum algorithms, and quantum machine learning. He is an author of over 80 articles in scientific journals.

Stefano Pirandola is a Professor of quantum information at Computer Science (York). In the past, he has been Leverhulme fellow (2013-2015) and Marie Curie outgoing international fellow (2007-2010). He started to work on quantum cryptography and quantum networks since he was a fellow at MIT. He has contributed to the development of the “continuous-variable” formulation of quantum information which has natural implementations in quantum optics. In particular, his main interests are in the areas of quantum communication, cryptography and sensing, for which he has established ultimate theoretical limits besides designing practical technological implementations.

Ivano Ruo-Berchera is a senior researcher at INRIM, the Italian Metrology Institute. His work concerns quantum optics and the experimental use of non-classical states of light for quantum metrology, imaging and radiometry. His main contributions concern the realization of sub-shot-noise quantum imaging and a quantum-enhanced target detection scheme immune to noise. He is co-author of more than 70 peer reviewed scientific publications. He has been invited speaker in more than 20 international conferences and since 2017, and is an organizer of ‘QUANTUMXX’, one of the main European conferences in quantum optics and technologies.

Stefano Mancini earned the Doctorate in Physics from the University of Perugia, Italy in 1998 by defending a thesis on quantum state tomography. He then spent several years at the University of Milan, Italy. With temporary lecturer positions he has contributed to the establishment of the first Italian academic courses on quantum information and computation. Since 2010 he is appointed at University of Camerino as professor of theoretical physics. He has published more than 200 papers in international leading journals with major contributions on the subjects of quantum channels, quantum error-correcting codes, entanglement characterization. He co-authored two textbooks: “Theory of Computability and Complexity” and “A Quantum Leap in Information Theory”.

Prof Johannes Fink (PI)
Johannes Fink has more than 14 years of research experience in superconducting circuits and more than 8 years in photonics and nano-mechanics. During his PhD at ETH Zurich he observed the geometric phase and studied fundamental interactions between light and matter in circuit QED. As a postdoc at Caltech he demonstrated motional ground state cooling of a dielectric nanobeam. As an independent PI at IST he used mechanics to realize an on-chip microwave circulator and to deterministically generate and distribute entangled radiation. In QUARTET he will contribute his experience in microwave quantum tomography and his expertise in the design, fabrication and measurement of Josephson circuits.
